Weekly Roundup For The Week Of 11/12/18

This week had a few very strong new releases. There really wasn't one that stood above the rest. As a result, we are foregoing the "Album Of The Week" portion. Instead here are some very good albums that came out this last week.

Josephine Foster released yet another great album in a long line of great albums. I swear if you like her sound she never really comes close to anything resembling disappointment. If you like old timey folk sounds. I don't mean 60s. I mean Renaissance style old folk than you are in for a treat, because no one does this stuff better.

Also great from a musician who makes music much like Josephine Foster is Richard Dawson's band Hen Ogledd. Now just so you know, this band has nothing really to do with Richard Dawson's old timey sound aside from maybe his voice. This band is a very forward thinking progressive art pop band. Very different but on it's own, extremely satisfying.

If you ever wish Cardi B had a better vocabulary, better producers and wasn't such a vapid turd. Well then! You should definitely check out Leikeli47. She is very similar to Cardi except better on virtually every single front. She raps better, sings better, has better musical backing, etc...This isn't dumb shit!

I know Christmas albums can be extremely cheesy and offputting, aside from a few greats. You can add Old 97s to the great list. They inject Christmas with a much needed Alt Country rockin flavor. There are some originals and some covers and overall this is a welcome addition to the very small collection of decent to great Christmas albums.
