Weekly Roundup For The Week 10/22/18

Unlike last week, this week was pretty great for new albums. Here are some of the highlights:

Album of the week: Daughters-You Won't Get What You Want
After not releasing anything for 8 years, these guys come back with a couple of shows and this beast of an album. I'm not even really sure what to call this. It's got Nick Cave and David Yow in the vocals. The music is like goth noise rock mixed with industrial and metal. The songs are much longer this time around and the blast beats and manic metal of the past is all but gone. This is more akin to sludge and doom metal if anything but it really isn't either one of those. This is just a really dark and brutal album and a definite recommendation for anyone looking for something a little creepy.

Other highlights:
Ty Segall made an excellently weird covers album.

Julia Holter gave us what might be here densest album yet.

Edan and Homeboy Sandman gave a short and sweet deliriously weird hip hop collaboration.

Bad Sports knocked it out of the park in a power punk garage rock sort of way with their new one.

Single Mothers came back with another ass kicking slice of noise rock.
